When you delete a photo on Android, the file isn’t immediately destroyed. The system marks that space as available — but the data stays put until something new writes over it.

That gap is your recovery window. On Android it can last weeks. The key is to act before anything else gets written to your storage.

Make sure this never happens again

Open Google Photos, tap your profile icon, go to Photos Settings → Backup and make sure it’s on. Google gives you 15 GB free and syncs automatically on Wi-Fi.

For extra protection, add Amazon Photos (free unlimited storage for Prime members) or Dropbox as a second backup. Two copies in two places makes permanent photo loss nearly impossible.
